The Assistant Athletic Coach reports to the Head Coach of their specific assigned athletic team and is dually responsible for assisting the Head Coach in carrying out all activities necessary to accomplish the objectives of this sport within the guidelines of the USCAA and the University. The Assistant Coach is also responsible for ensuring that all Student-Athletes understand that they are first STUDENTS and second Athletes of Stratford University. The Assistant Coach is responsible for teaching their student athlete’s the specific skills to compete in their sport of choice, while ensuring that they maintain sportsmanship, academic quality, and the uphold the values of Stratford University on and off the playing field/court.
When an assistant coach is not offering instruction on the field of play, in the gym, or during conditioning, the assistant coach will be present and accountable on the campus. The assistant coach will work with the admissions staff to handle community outreach initiatives, aid in the advising of student athletes, and assist the head coach in all fundraising, and sports development activities. These may include meeting with businesses to gain their financial support in making Stratford University Athletics successful, and may include creating partnerships with companies on behalf of admissions and career services. While not in the gym, conditioning or on the field practicing or playing, assistant coaches will support many areas of the University, and will be responsible to the Athletic Director.
Stratford University’s Assistant Coaches are vital to the success of Stratford University, and the Athletic Department. They must feel passionate about participating in the admissions process. With the participation of cross-functional staff and faculty support team, you will help to successfully transition students into their academic program. This goes above and beyond any commitments made to the athletic teams, and student-athletes participating on those teams.

This position serves as an enthusiastic and informed ambassador for initiatives central to the University’s commitment to excellence, innovation and efficiency in serving a diverse student body and in supporting a diverse faculty and staff. The Assistant Athletic Coaches will be dually responsible for helping to run successful athletic programs that they are assigned, as well as successfully aiding to an increased domestic, non-athlete student enrollment, fundraising for the Athletics’ program, and creating partnerships with community business.. The Assistant Athletic Coaches will report both to the Head Coach of their assigned sport, as well as to the Athletic Director and Campus President. .
